Happy New Year! It is so cold here in Southern Arizona. Okay, for you who live in the Northern and Eastern regions, 45 degrees would be just balmy. But those of us in the Southwest want warm…No! We want HOT! It’s hard to do any bicycle riding if you have to dress in fifteen layers. Oh, well, it is January.
So, enough complaining and on to the fun stuff. I had a request for a project bag made from something old. My sister gave me an old kitchen tablecloth that I pieced together for the outside. I used reproduction fabric for the lining and added a hand braided cord. It is one of my more unique bags. I’m making more inkle loom bands. This one uses 3 heddles instead of pick-up sticks. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for but I do like the colors and pattern. The shawl is nearly completed. I found a nice edge pattern for the bind off. This was yarn given to me by my niece, Liz, from last year.I made a tote bag that changes into a duffle bag by pulling the lining out. You just never know when you will need more room for yarn, fleece, fabric, yarn, patterns, yarn, etc.My latest new weaving technique to learn is card weaving. This book is a great starting point and I’ve already ordered another book, “Please Weave a Message” from Linda Hendrickson. This is my first card weaving band. It’s amazing how the pattern can change just by rotating the cards differently. I can see some fun weaving happening. That should do it for now!
